The painter and photographer Albrecht Tübke was born in Leipzig in 1971. After receiving a diploma at the University of Graphics and Book Art in Leipzig, Tübke continued his education as a master student under Timm Rautert. Later, he proceeded to study at the Metropolitan University of London.
Since then, he has received international awards (a prominent one being the Hasselblad Scholarship) and his works have been included in collections around the world (including the Victoria and Albert Museum London, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, ICP Collection New York, Maison Europeenne de la Photographie Paris, …). Ever since 1999, they can frequently be seen in exhibitions.
Albrecht Tübke’s primary concern is the documentary image of man. This is reflected in his work mostly through the frontal full-body portraits. His series display homogeneous groups of images in which he masterfully sheds light on individuality, identity and personality of his subjects. The brochure features his three series “Twins”, “Dalliendorf”, and “Citizens”. Albrecht Tübke lives and works as a photographer and painter in Italy and Germany.
